RESEARCH INTERESTs
Prof Hassett's research is focused on innovative solutions for the global challenge of physical inactivity, particularly for people with disability, and improving translational research within health systems. This can be conceptualised into four interrelated streams:
- Physical activity interventions for people with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury (msTBI) (Key publication: Hassett L, Johnson L, et al, Clinical and Public Health Guidelines; 2025; 2:e70035 https://doi.org/10.1002/gin2.70035)
- Using technology to improve mobility and physical activity in people undertaking rehabilitation (Key paper: Pearce et al, JMIR, 2024;26:e60374 https://www.jmir.org/2024/1/e60374)
- Identifying, promoting and evaluating appropriate opportunities for community-based physical activity for people with disability (Key paper: Hassett et al, Br J Sports Med, 2023;0:1–10. https://doi:10.1136/bjsports-2023-107123)
- Translating effective interventions into healthcare systems using implementation science methods (Key paper: Hassett et al, Journal of Physiotherapy; 2022; 68; pp:210-212 https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jphys.2022.05.009)
