RESEARCH INTERESTs

Over the past decade, Professor Corinne Caillaud’s research has centred on understanding and improving health behaviours—particularly physical activity, sleep, and nutrition—among adolescents and culturally diverse populations, with a strong focus on Pacific Island communities. Her work integrates exercise physiology with digital‑health innovation to design tools and interventions that meaningfully support healthier lifestyles. This includes the iEngage program, which uses activity‑tracker data and interactive modules to promote physical activity in young adolescents.

A feature of her research is the examination of the nexus between people’s lived contexts and the behavioural patterns that shape their lifestyles. This is especially evident in studies exploring how sociocultural, environmental, and community‑specific factors influence sleep, nutrition, physical activity, and health literacy among Pacific adolescents. By grounding digital‑health solutions in the realities of local contexts, she ensures that technology enhances cultural relevance and community needs.

Professor Caillaud also contributes to interdisciplinary work on health data analytics, including mining wearable‑sensor data to assess behavioural change and intervention impact. Across her projects, she consistently bridges physiology, technology, and public health to develop culturally contextualised, evidence‑based strategies that empower young people and communities to adopt sustainable healthy behaviours.

Her work is increasingly guided by participatory research approaches that actively engage communities in the co‑design and co‑implementation of solutions.
