Professor Villeneuve is a globally recognised leader in disability inclusion and global health, with a distinguished record of service and leadership within the university and across various sectors. As Deputy Director of the Centre for Disability Research and Policy (CDRP) at the University of Sydney since 2022, she has spearheaded strategic initiatives to enhance the visibility and impact of the Centre’s research. Her contributions include developing innovative communication strategies, fostering academic collaboration, and hosting international networking events, such as a gathering of 75 disability leaders at the 2023 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference, which strengthened global partnerships and advanced the agenda for disability inclusion.

Beyond the university, Prof Villeneuve provides expert policy advice to Australian national and state governments, focusing on embedding disability inclusion into emergency management and policy frameworks. Her work with agencies such as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Department of Health (formerly Department of Social Services), and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has supported efforts to address systemic barriers and promote inclusive practices that ensure equitable access and preparedness for people at greater risk in emergencies. A passionate advocate for mentorship and leadership development, Prof Villeneuve has guided colleagues at all career stages, contributing to their professional growth and fostering inclusive practices across disciplines.
