SERVICE & LEADERSHIP SUMMARy

Associate Professor Joanna Harnett has an extensive governance and leadership portfolio spanning national regulatory bodies, professional associations, editorial boards, and university leadership. She holds prominent national roles, including Chair of the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration Advisory Committee on Complementary Medicines (2026–). She has also contributed to professional governance through board appointments with the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia, the Australian Register of Naturopaths and Herbalists, and committee roles with the World Naturopathic Federation.
Her editorial leadership includes Associate Editor roles, guest editorships for international Q1 peer reviewed journals in the disciplines of complementary medicines, and pharmacy practice, and commissioned reviews for the Australian Pharmaceutical Formulary. Joanna has provided long standing strategic advice across the complementary medicine, pharmacy, and integrative healthcare sectors.
Within the University of Sydney, she has held significant academic leadership roles, including Faculty Academic Director, Student Life (2022–2024), coordinated units of study, program directorships, and membership on key governance, education, First Nations, and strategic planning committees. She contributes actively to curriculum innovation, quality assurance, and student experience governance.
