RESEARCH INTERESTs

He has secured over $27 million in NHMRC and MRFF funding as Chief Investigator. With over 12 years of experience in research, Associate Professor Machado is committed to bridging the gap between evidence and practice. His work focuses on large-scale clinical trials testing interventions for musculoskeletal pain, strategies to reduce opioid use, and implementation of new models of care. He applies innovative trial designs, such as stepped-wedge (SHaPED), multi-arm multi-stage (ADAPT-ED), pragmatic point-of-care (RESHAP-ED), and sequential multiple assignment (SMART-ED) to generate high-impact evidence.
