Andrea is Associate Professor of Mental Health Nursing at Sydney Nursing School. Prior to her academic appointment she had an active clinical career in the public mental health sector holding specialist leadership roles. Her contributions to the profession, and sustained commitment to advanced practice and professional education, have been recognised through the award of Fellow of the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) and certification as a Credentialled Mental Health Nurse (CMHN) for over 20 years. She is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK. She has held several academic education leadership roles at Sydney Nursing School including Director of Postgraduate Advanced Studies and Director of Academic Education. Andrea is a qualified Open Dialogue therapist and a Mental Health First Aid Instructor. She is a qualitative researcher in mental health approaches and service delivery and an active HDR Supervisor. Through her supervision, she focuses on supporting the use of qualitative approaches in mixed methods research.
