DrThemiya Nanayakkara

I co-chaired the Scientific Organising Committee for IAU Symposium 391, "The First Chapters of Our Cosmic History with JWST" (Cape Town, 2024), and co-edited the symposium proceedings.

Within Australian astronomy I led the Cosmic Noon and Epoch of Reionisation subgroup of the Galaxies & Cosmology chapter of the Australian Astronomy Decadal Plan 2026-2035, co-chaired the Astronomical Society of Australia's Sustainability Working Group, and served as Technical Secretary of the Swinburne Keck Telescope Time Allocation Committee. I have sat on the scientific organising committees of the ASA Annual Scientific Meetings and represented the ASA at Science Meets Parliament.

Internationally I review for the IAU Office of Astronomy for Development, helped found the IAU Executive Committee Working Group of Junior Members, sit on the steering committee of the IAU International Hands-On Workshops, and contribute to the Habitable Worlds Observatory community science working group.

I am a registered science expert with the Australian Science Media Centre and write for The Conversation.
