BIO
Dr Maria Lastra Cagigas is an emerging research leader in cancer metabolism and metabolic health. She holds the Schmidt Science Fellowship and the Helen and Robert Ellis Fellowship, two highly competitive awards recognising exceptional early-career scientists. Her research integrates cancer cell biology, metabolism, and single-cell technologies to improve cancer outcomes and long-term health. She has secured over AUD 1 million in funding and established collaborations across Australia, Europe, Asia, and the US.
