Research projects & supervision summary

Professor Bleasel's research interests have spanned her clinical interests in rheumatology, autoimmune diseases and medical education.

 

Her PhD was on the genetics of familial cartilage disorders, with a majority of her PhD research performed at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio, USA.  This extended into NH & MRC funded research on back pain guidelines, leading to a seminal article on Prognosis in patients with recent onset low back pain in Australian Primary Care (citations 787). She has also been involved in foundational health systems research on models of care for the seocndary prevention of osteoporosis.

Other clinical research has included connective tissue related Interstitial Lung Disease.

 

Educational research has centred on medical curriculum innovations, inlcuding Team-Based Learning, programmatic assessment and community-based learning.
