RESEARCH INTERESTs
My research is focused on a deep understanding of the multidimensional nature and complex impacts that injury and trauma can have on a person’s holistic health and wellbeing, encompassing psychological physical and social dimensions. My work represents an effort in bridging the divide between the biomedical perspective and the psychosocial understanding of recovery and resilience following injury and trauma.
My expertise lies on conducting innovative integrating research studying the intricate interplay of factors influencing responses to stress and health recovery, in particular psychological and physiological mechanisms. Many of my ongoing studies utilised an interdisciplinary approach and focus on exploring psychological and physiological responses including central and peripheral mechanisms (e.g., brain and heart indicators) as potential markers of poor recovery and persistent disability following injuries.
Broad applications of my work include the development and application of integrative and novel strategies for preventing, diagnosing, and treating the mental, physical and social sequalae of injury and trauma, such as psychological distress, cognitive impairment, pain and disability. My work spans mild-to-severe injuries, acute-to-chronic, multidisciplinary risk assessments, health outcomes analysis and clinical trials.
