BIO
Dr. Ilaria Pozzato is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sydney, Australia, with a medical background. Ilaria holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and specialisation in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the University of Padua (Italy). Ilaria completed her PhD at the University of Sydney in 2021. The primary focus of her interdisciplinary research work is to improve our understanding of the complex physiological and psychological mechanisms (and their interplay) that underlie recovery and resilience after injury and trauma. Ilaria's work aims to identify potential markers of recovery and apply these markers for prevention, more accurate assessment, and personalised treatment approaches.
With a research experience spanning over 15 years, Ilaria is emerging as a leading figure in the field of non-invasive physiological markers (heart rate variability) for health recovery following traumatic injuries. Ilaria co-leads the Neuro-Psycho-Physiological Laboratory for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) in the Kolling Institute, Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, first laboratory of its kind in Australia, which supports advancements in improving neural and mental function in people living with a SCI.
