RESEARCH INTERESTs
A/Prof O’Reilly’s research focusses on mental health pharmacy and improving outcomes for people living with serious and persistent mental illness through quality use of medicines. A/Prof O’Reilly is a master MHFA instructor and is passionate about improving pharmacists’ confidence in providing support for people living with mental illness.
Recent and current projects include consumers’ experiences of stigma and discrimination in schizophrenia; pharmacists’ experiences of, and attitudes towards, suicidal behaviour in primary care settings; pharmacists performing screening and risk assessment services for depression; using simulated teaching methods to assess pharmacy students skills in handling mental health crisis situations; primary health care providers attitudes to supplying clozapine; evaluation of mental health training and education programs and new roles for pharmacists in mental health as part of a multidisciplinary team.
