A/Prof Claire O’Reilly is an Associate Professor at Sydney Pharmacy School, pharmacist and master Mental Health First Aid Instructor. A/Prof O’Reilly is considered a national leader in the area of pharmacists’ roles in mental health care and has led various research projects, policy initiatives and established evidence-based training programs to enable pharmacists to have an enhanced role in the support and care of people living with mental illness in Australia. Currently, she is co-leading a large partnership program grant focused on the physical health of consumers living with severe & persistent mental illness in primary care settings. In addition, she is also leading a trial of a community pharmacist-led collaborative screening and referral for older adults at risk of depression. A/Prof O’Reilly has held numerous leadership roles in the profession including as National Vice-President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and as the first pharmacist to be appointed to the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC), which provides advice to Government on the strength of evidence and cost-effectiveness of medical technologies and procedures.
