Research projects & supervision summary

Alice's PhD research, undertaken as part of the Dairy UP P6 project, focused on the use of novel monitoring tools to optimise individual animal management in dairy systems. Her thesis, Revealing and exploiting the diversity in dairy cattle reticulorumen temperature data for heat stress amelioration, examined how on-animal sensor technologies could capture individual variation in physiological responses to environmental stressors. This work informed precision, data-driven management strategies that will improve heat stress mitigation, animal welfare, and production outcomes. This research was supported by a Dairy UP Postgraduate Research Scholarship and Supplementary Scholarship and has direct relevance to industry adoption and practical on-farm decision making.
