SERVICE & LEADERSHIP SUMMARy
I am a Professor (Level E) and Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences. I lead the NanoMedical Innovations Research Group and manage three major facilities: Nano-Bio-Characterisation, the Laboratory for Animal Replacement Technologies, and the BioNanoTechnology Facility. I was instrumental in establishing the Sydney Nano Institute, serving as Deputy Director, Health and Medicine Theme Leader, and Chair of the Multifunctional Nanoparticles Cluster.
My leadership extends internationally. I hold advisory roles with Cytiva and BiomeCentric, maintain an affiliated research position at Uppsala University, and serve as a Visiting Professor in Sweden, India, Poland, China, and South Korea. I am the President of the Asian Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences, co-chairing biannual conferences, and I was a core member of the international consortium that initiated the International Network for Sustainable Nanotechnology, a global alliance advancing UN sustainability goals.
I contribute extensively to research governance and peer review. I am Editor-in-Chief of Artificial Cells, Nanomedicine and Biotechnology and Associate Editor for four leading journals. I review grants for NHMRC, ARC, A*STAR, EU Horizon2020, and others, and received the Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Royal Society of Chemistry. I also serve on NHMRC panels and have organised and chaired symposia at over 30 major international conferences.
My commitment to global partnerships is reflected in co-leading two EU Horizon 2020 consortia and serving on the scientific panel of EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE, the world’s largest small-molecule screening consortium.
