LEARNING & TEACHING SUMMARy
Dr Jayasinghe teaches in the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program at the University of Sydney, where she cotributes to Evidence-Based Practice, Oral-Systemic Biosciences, and Treament Planning. She brings foundational science into clinically relevant teaching using evidence-based and team-based learning, helping dental students connect microbiome and nutrition science to patient care.
She is an active research supervisor and has mentored more than 20 students across undergraduate, Honours, DMD and Higher Degree by Research levels, as both lead and co-supervisor. Her HDR supervision spans Master of Philosophy and PhD projects on topics including periodontitis and type 2 diabetes, oral health and adverse pregnancy outcomes, gut immune regulation in periodontal disease, and the gut microbiome in Alzheimer's disease. Earlier in her career she lectured in Food Science and Nutrition BSc program at Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, teaching Food Toxicology.
