Research projects & supervision summary
Fernandes is currently working on a book project based on extensive ethnographic research, entitled Staying Afloat: Migrants and Work in Global Cities. The project follows Indigenous migrant workers in Sydney, Mumbai and New York City as they support their families in climate-degraded villages and flood-prone cities, ultimately connecting the theft of migrant labor to a longer history of extraction – of bodies, life, and planetary resources.
Fernandes is open to supervisions in areas of migrant work, social and labor movements, climate justice, and related fields.
