BIO
Dr. Sandhya Clement is a Senior Lecturer (Education-Focused) at the School of Biomedical Engineering, University of Sydney, and Director of Student Life and Academic Integrity. She earned her PhD in NanoBiophotonics from the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University, Sydney (2017), following a Master’s in Optoelectronics and Laser Technology (2008) and a Bachelor’s in Electronics and Communication Engineering (1999). She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Sandhya’s work spans biomedical signal and image analysis, nanodrug development, and AI applications in healthcare, alongside education research focused on innovating and implementing best teaching practices to improve student experience and sense of belonging. She is currently leading initiatives to enhance engagement and project-based learning. Her contributions have been recognized with the Outstanding Teaching Award (2023) and Top-Performing Educator recognition (2024) from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney.
