Project-based learning (PBL) engages students in solving real-world problems, fostering essential skills like teamwork and communication. However, inconsistent grading, tutors with diverse expertise, and inadequate support for diverse student groups often hinder its effectiveness. This project investigates these challenges in engineering education, focusing on marking consistency, resource management, and student support.

The goal is to foster a strong synergy between first year and penultimate year biomedical engineering students, encouraging them to learn from each other and provide support for the development of skills necessary to become future leaders in their field. By creating this supportive environment, first-year students will be able to seamlessly integrate into engineering community and university life with guidance from their senior peers. Simultaneously, the senior students will have the opportunity to practice mentoring skills, taking a step towards becoming future leaders in their field. This mutually beneficial initiative will enhance the educational experience and create a sense of belonging within the biomedical engineering curriculum.
