BIO
Dr Paul Witting is a Professor, Redox Biology in the Discipline of Pathology at The University of Sydney and a career biomedical researcher. The Redox Biology lab is situated in the Charles Perkins Centre (level 4, west) and provides an excellent environment for young researchers to be trained in biomedical techniques and explore the relationships between oxidative stress and disease. Witting has held ARC (2003-2007) and National Heart Foundation Fellowships (1999-2001) that financed post-doctoral terms at the ANZAC Research Institute and University of British Columbia (Canada), respectively. He has a proven track record in the field of bio-medical chemistry publishing 129 peer-reviewed papers; 8 book chapters; 16 review articles, an invited focus editorial and an International Patent. Publications by Witting and his co-workers have been acknowledged with 9,943 citations (less self-citations); H-index 58 (Researchgate 2025). He has been awarded ~A$15.3 Million in competitive funding from agencies including the ARC (Fellowship, DP & LIEF), NHMRC (Fellowship (declined) & Project), NHF (Fellowship & GIA), Wellcome Trust and NHMRC Equipment Grants, The Ramaciotti, Mason, Philip Bushell, Rebecca Cooper and CASS Foundations, Diabetes Australia Research Trust, USyd Development/Bridging/FMH Strategic/Education Innovation Schemes, Bosch Institute Translational GIA& Equipment Grantsand industry funding - Eli Lilly (Aus), Nanosonics (Aus), Servier International (France), Fisher and Paykel (New Zealand), AUS Gov Innovation Connect and NSW Industry and community seed fund schemes.
