Dr Nicole Mockler is Professor of Education within the Sydney School of Education and Social Work, and Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Education at the University of Oxford. She has a background in secondary school teaching and teacher professional learning. Nicole's research interests are in education policy and politics, teacher professional learning and curriculum and pedagogy, and she also continues to work with teachers and schools in these areas.
Nicole has co-authored and edited 16 books, including Constructing Teacher Identities: How the Print Media Defines and Represents Teachers' Work (Bloomsbury, 2022),Questioning the Language of Improvement and Reform in Education: Reclaiming Meaning (Routledge, 2018, with Susan Groundwater-Smith) andThe BERA-Sage Handbook of Evidence-informed Policy and Practice in Education (Sage, 2025, with Dominic Wyse, Vivienne Baumfield and Martin Reardon).
Nicole was Editor in Chief ofThe Australian Educational Researcherfrom 2017 to 2022. She is currentlya member of the Editorial Boards ofThe Australian Educational Researcher, British Educational Research Journal and Curriculum Perspectives, and a member of the International Advisory Board ofEducational Action Research.
Nicole is currently the President Elect of the Australian Association for Research in Education.
