RESEARCH INTERESTs
Dr Fancourt's current research program is focused on the intersection between childhood malnutrition, immune function, and respiratory infections. He leads a multidisciplinary and international team of researchers using clinical science and public health methods.
He is principal investigator on an NHMRC-funded clinical trial of pneumococcal conjugate vaccination in children recovering from severe acute malnutrition in Dili, Timor-Leste. He previously coordinated an update to the WHO standards for the chest x-ray diagnosis of childhood pneumonia in epidemiological studies and worked on the multi-country Pneumonia Etiology Research for Child Health (PERCH) study.
