RESEARCH INTERESTs

Moira is an experienced qualitative researcher and leads a program of research aimed at co-designing integrated health and social care for older adults with dual sensory impairment, their informal carers, and families.  A central aim of this work is to influence policy recognition of the health and social experiences of older adults living with DSI.

 

Moira leads the Australian Association of Gerontology funded study "Developing integrated care models for older adults with dual sensory impairment (DSI) and their family carers"; is co-investigator on Perspectives on social wellbeing programs: adults with dual sensory impairment and their communication partners with Macquarie University, NSW, and co-investigator on a SSEAC funded project Impact of Low-Cost Hearing Assistive Technology on Members of a Deafblind People’s Organisation in Indonesia: A Pilot.

 

Moira co-leads the Dual Sensory Impairment Project, co-chairs the international Dual-SIG research and practice group and is a current member of the steering committee for the Deafblind International conference, Davos, Switzerland, 2027.
