SERVICE & LEADERSHIP SUMMARy

Professor Simunovic holds several senior research, training and governance roles nationally and internationally.

He is a Director of Australian Vision Research (AVR) and Chair of the Research Committee, Sydney Eye Hospital Foundation, overseeing competitive research funding allocation.

 

He is Director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship at Sydney Eye Hospital, responsible for advanced subspecialty training of vitreoretinal surgeons.

 

Professor Simunovic serves as Principal Investigator of the Fight Inherited Retinal Blindness! (FIRB!) Registry, an international outcomes registry evaluating real-world effectiveness of retinal gene therapy and emerging treatments for inherited retinal disease. He is a Steering Committee Member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists Surgical Audit Registry and a Research Standing Committee Member of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology. 

 

He is also an Examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and regularly reviews grants for national and international funding bodies.
