RESEARCH INTERESTs
Dr Zeraati’s research interests centre on the biology, pathology, and therapeutic targeting of DNA and RNA secondary structures. His work focuses on understanding how non-canonical nucleic acid conformations contribute to genome regulation, cellular function, and disease progression.
Key research interests include:
1) The role of DNA and RNA secondary structures, including i-Motifs, G-quadruplexes, and repeat-associated structures, in gene regulation and genome biology.
2) The contribution of nucleic acid secondary structures to cancer and neurodegenerative disorders, particularly repeat expansion diseases.
3) Development of antibodies and engineered biologics targeting DNA and RNA secondary structures for diagnostic, and therapeutic applications.
4) Development of intracellular antibodies (intrabodies) and mRNA-based therapeutic platforms.
