BIO

Luis Vitetta is an Honours Graduate from Monash University (1981) in the Department of Biochemistry – Faculty of Medicine, and a PhD Graduate from the University of Melbourne, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences in the Department of Surgery (1985) where he studied the epidemiological and aetiological factors of biliary disease and biliary infections. He has also studied medicine at the National University of La Plata Medical School in his native Argentina.   He also has qualifications with a Grad Dip Appl Sci Nutritional and Environmental Medicine and a Grad Dip Appl Sci Integrative Medicine from Swinburne University.

Between the years 2007-2013 Luis Vitetta was the Director and A/Professor of the Centre for Integrative Clinical and Molecular Medicine at The University of Queensland, School of Medicine. 

 

From 2013 to 2022 he was the Director of Medical Research for a Sydney based biotechnology company i.e., Medlab Clinical Pty Ltd. investigating and developing functional foods for gastrointestinal diseases as well as developing novel drug delivery methods with nanoparticle technology, resulting in multiple granted patents. 

 

From 2005 to 2011 he was a visiting academic with appointments to Department of Medicine–Central and Eastern Medical School, Monash University School of Medicine [2005-2011]. Visiting Professor Lowy Cancer Centre | UNSW. [2015].

In 2005-2006: he was a senior research fellow at the Centre for Molecular Biology and Medicine, Epworth Medical Centre in Melbourne.
Between 1992-1996 he was a research associate with The University of Melbourne, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
 
From 1997-1999 he was a Senior Research Fellow, Center for Palliative Care, University of Melbourne Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
 

He has also continued his clinical trial professional development with additional certifications completed from the Western Australia Health Translational Network in 2024 while working at Fiona Stanley Hospital; including Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in Australia, and GCP refresher certifications | Introduction to Health Research | Consumer and Community Involvement in Health Research | Literature Searching and Management V2 | The Essentials for Writing a Research Protocol | Guide to HeSanda and Health Data Australia.
