Research projects & supervision summary

Like a lot of academics, my first book was a heavily revised version of my dissertation on sexual encounter in the Pacific. My next book, Lesbianism, Cinema, Space: The Sexual Life of Apartments, looked into cinematic chronotopes for the telling of lesbian stories. Since then I have been working on what I now think of as the committment trilogy, which begins with Reattachment Theory: Queer Cinema of Remarriage and continues in my current project on the couple (with Annamarie Jagose). The planned third volume will be on the university. Most of these projects have received signifcant external funding.

Supervision Statement

I am interested in recruiting PhD candidates to work on research projects already underway at SSSHARC or in areas of strategic interest to SSSHARC. I am particularly interested in candidates that bring other skills and experience to the research proposition, or those interested in knowledge transfer and impact. This includes candidates interested in working with or establishing social enterprises.
