Research area and supervision
Justine researches the cultures and politics of digital media and emerging technologies with a focus on the social consequences of mobile, smart and data-driven technologies. Justine’s research also addresses the materialisation of smart cities and the datafication of urban life with a focus on the mediation of home and urban space through smart street furniture, smart voice assistants, AI and robotics.
I supervise PhD, MPhil and Honours students with higher research on the following topics. I currently have six PhD students I am supervising or co-supervising (Jennifer Grinham, Umar Umar, Stephanie Lee, Ning Ding, Ting Su, Rosary Coloma).
