ProfessorJan-Willem Alffenaar

He is theme lead ‘Antimicrobial resistance and novel therapies’ at the University of Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute and a member of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, the Drug Committee. He is the  Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee and member of the Human Ethics Research Committee of Western Sydney Local Health District. He is also a member of the University of Sydney Clinical Trials Advisory Committee.

He is an internationally recognized expert in therapeutic drug monitoring and dose optimization of antimicrobial therapy. He is the Past President of the International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology. He is a member of the WHO’s Technical Advisory Group on TB drug dosing.

He is Associate Editor of "Therapeutic Drug Monitoring" and "International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases" and editorial board member of "Clinical Pharmacokinetics".
