BIO
I am a transplant and upper gastrointestinal surgeon at Royal Prince Alfred and Westmead Hospitals and an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. My clinical practice focuses on liver, pancreas, biliary and complex upper GI surgery, including minimally invasive approaches. I enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams and welcome collaboration that improves care for patients with complex surgical needs.
After completing medical school and early surgical training in the United Kingdom, I moved to Australia as a Northcote Scholar to undertake a PhD in transplantation immunology at the University of Sydney. I subsequently completed General Surgery training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, receiving Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011, followed by subspecialty training in hepatopancreatobiliary, upper GI and transplant surgery in Australia and at Toronto General Hospital.
Over the past decade, my main professional satisfaction has come from mentoring surgeons in training, supervising research students and teaching medical students. I regularly supervise higher-degree and honours projects, support junior clinicians developing academic careers, and contribute to curriculum design and assessment in surgery. I aim to create an approachable, supportive learning environment where students and trainees feel comfortable asking questions, giving feedback and exploring new ideas.
I am always happy to hear from students, trainees and colleagues who are interested in transplant and HPB surgery, surgical education or collaborative research.
