RESEARCH INTERESTs

My group has progressed tuberculosis (TB) vaccines from the initial discovery phase (e.g. antigen discovery) to the development of products that are being prepared for clinical trials. I have established platforms for the detailed assessment of vaccine-induced immunity, which have been used as part of an international TB vaccine consortium (TBVAC2020), to aid clinical progression of live TB vaccine candidates. In recent years we have established vaccine programs for important Cystic Fibrosis pathogens, in particularPseudomonas aeruginosaandMycobacterium abscesses, and most recently COVID-19.I have also diversified my research program to include drug discovery and development for important human pathogens, involving a large network of national and international collaborators, with a focus on TB.I hold patents on antigen discovery, antimicrobial compounds and a novel COVID-19 vaccine approach.
