SERVICE & LEADERSHIP SUMMARy
Dr Sandaradura holds extensive leadership positions spanning state, national, and international organizations, with particular focus on antimicrobial resistance, clinical governance, and digital health innovation.
State and Health System Leadership
As Chief Medical Information Officer for NSW Health Pathology (2025-present), Dr Sandaradura leads the strategic integration of pathology services within the NSW Single Digital Patient Record implementation, serving on the Senior Leadership Team of both NSW Health Pathology and the NSW Single Digital Patient Record Implementation Authority. He chairs the Western Sydney Local Health District Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee (2023-2025) and serves as an executive member of the NSW Health Pathology Medical Staff Council (2023-present), providing clinical governance and medical workforce leadership across the state's public pathology network.
National Leadership
Dr Sandaradura serves as Director of Public Pathology Australia (PPA) (2025-present), representing public pathology interests at the national level. He is a member of the Australian Digital Health Agency's National Clinical Governance Committee for Digital Health (2025-present), contributing to national digital health standards and governance frameworks. As Education Officer for the Australian Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AusCAST) (2024-present), he leads educational initiatives in antimicrobial susceptibility testing standardization. He serves on the Australian Society for Infectious Diseases (ASID) Council (2023-present) and is Treasurer and Steering Committee member of the AustralAsian Collaboration on Endocarditis (ACE) (2023-present).
His regulatory and accreditation roles include Technical Assessor for the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) (2019-present), Expert Member of Standards Australia HE-023 group (2023-present), and Examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Microbiology Advisory Committee (2017-present).
International Leadership
Dr Sandaradura serves as Country Lead for Samoa within the Pacific Region Infectious Diseases Association (PRIDA) (2022-present), where he functions as Diploma tutor and mentor for Pacific Island clinicians. He worked as a WHO AMR Consultant in the Western Pacific Region (2024-2025), leading the development of Samoa's national antimicrobial guidelines. He is a member of the International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology (IATDMCT) Anti-infectives Committee (2019-present), contributing to international consensus on TDM best practices. Within the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), he serves in both the PK/PD of Anti-infectives Study Group (2015-present) and the Study Group for Artificial Intelligence and Digitalisation (2024-present).
Dr Sandaradura is a team member of Phage Australia at Westmead (2017-present), contributing to translational research in phage therapy. He is a founding member of the AMR and Novel Therapies Leadership Group at the Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute (2024-present) and joined The Pacific Collective at the University of Sydney (2025-present), advancing collaborative research in the Pacific region.
