BIO
I am a Senior Research Fellow and NHMRC Emerging Leader 1 Fellow at the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health, The University of Sydney, where I co-lead the Intervention Testing research stream.
My research investigates the effectiveness of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions (e.g. APP2009808; APP2023931, APP2043029, MRF2044392, MRF2044313) and new models of care to improve outcomes for people with musculoskeletal pain (e.g. APP2032516). These trials span drug, surgical, and rehabilitation interventions and use a range of innovative and efficient methods such as adaptive designs.
I am a world expert in low back pain (top 0.05% globally) & ranked as the #1 ECR globally (Expertscape), and #18 (top 0.1% globally) most productive low back pain researcher in the world since 2020 (ScholarGPS).
My H-index is 27, and I have published in top medical and discipline-specific journals (e.g. BMJ x3, JAMA Internal Medicine x1, Lancet Rheumatology x1, Br J Sports Med x1, J Physiother x9). Since being awarded my PhD in 2020, I have secured >$16.3 million in funding (>$2.8M as CIA).
I hold leadership positions at the local (e.g. Sydney Musculoskeletal Health, University of Sydney), national (e.g. Australia & New Zealand Musculoskeletal (ANZMUSC), Steering Committee member) and international (2026 IASP Global Year Against Neuropathic Pain Taskforce).
