RESEARCH INTERESTs

Research in our group is focused on carbon, nutrient (mostly nitrogen and phosphorus) and water dynamics in grasslands, forests and agro-ecosystems. We use field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments, often in combination with stable isotope techniques and other state-of-the-art methods. We also develop simple dynamic models and use ecosystem simulation models to better understand the importance of plant-microbial interactions for carbon and nutrient cycling in ecosystems affected by global change.

Our research aligns with the Faculty of Science Research Strengths - Understanding Our Planet, Climate and Environmental Change.
