RESEARCH INTERESTs

Emma is recognised for her pragmatic and collaborative approach to research and her genuine desire to engage academia to serve community interests. She employs co-design and co-production approaches to collaborate with public and private health providers to undertake health services research which drive improvements in care for rural communities. Her vision is for rural health services research to be undertaken by rural people, in rural areas and for those communities (including Aboriginal communities) to benefit directly from that research. Her research covers:

  • Rural research capacity building
  • Describing, applying and advocating for decolonising methodologies in rural health services research
  • Connection of rural researchers with specialist research entities to ensure cutting-edge advancements meet the needs of rural communities who will benefit from these innovations the most
