SERVICE & LEADERSHIP SUMMARy
Emily contributes to the discipline through internal academic leadership and external professional service. Within the University of Sydney, she coordinates VETS6204 – Principles of Animal Disease A, a core infectious disease unit within the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine curriculum, leading interdisciplinary teaching across multiple veterinary disease disciplines. She also supervises AVBS Honours and DVM R&E students working on projects in veterinary parasitology, molecular diagnostics and parasite surveillance.
Externally, Emily serves on the Education Committee of the Australian Society for Parasitology, where she collaborates with educators across Australia to strengthen parasitology teaching. In this role she is developing a national repository and communication network for sharing parasitology teaching resources and is leading the organisation of a symposium on educational outreach for the Society’s 2026 annual meeting. She is also involved in international veterinary outreach initiatives and is collaborating with Vets Beyond Borders to develop a parasitology training workshop for veterinarians in Vanuatu.
