BIO
Dr Eliane Deschrijver is an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher and Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology. Prior to this, she was a visiting postdoctoral scholar at the University of New South Wales and a postdoctoral scholar and PhD student at Ghent University. She has held a doctoral as well as a junior postdoctoral Research Foundation Flanders fellowship. Dr Deschrijver works on topics ranging from discrimination and ideological beliefs, to mentalizing and autism research. Dr Deschrijver was trained in brain imaging techniques (EEG, fMRI) and in-person and online behavioral measures. She has been awarded more than $1 300,000 in competitive research funding. Her research has attracted national and international prizes, such as from the American Psychological Association (APA), the European Society for Cognitive Psychology, the National Association of Research Fellows (NARF) of the NMHRC, and the Australasian Society for Mental Health Research (SMHR). She regularly disseminates her work to academic labs, community stakeholders and the media. She loves science communication: she used to be the lead of the curation team at TEDxGhent and has been involved in TEDxSydney.
