BIO
Whilst working as a marketing manager for a UK wildlife conservation charity and seeing firsthand the incredible benefits of conservation, I decided to change careers and hemispheres. After completing a Masters in Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney I undertook my PhD in Marine Biology at Macquarie university specifically researching at the molecular impacts of contamination and climate change on the Sydney Rock oyster, a valuable species in NSW. I continued at Macquarie university in post-doctoral positions, including as Senior Research Fellow on a large ITTC grant, working primarily at the Sydney Institute of Marine Science and in conjunction with the DPI Fisheries Port Stephens.
In 2017 I became a Lecturer at the University of Sydney designing and implementing the large first year unit, From Molecules to Ecosystems, focusing on teaching, pedagogy and student learning. I then spent 5 years at Taronga Zoo designing and managing the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Taronga Wildlife Conservation) in collaborating with the University of Sydney. In 2023 I returned to the University of Sydney as Senior Lecturer in Animal Sciences and Sydney Horizon Educator.
