My leadership is centred on creating a supportive, ambitious, and collaborative environment in which lab members can grow into confident interdisciplinary scientists. As Head of the Biomedical AI Centre at the Centenary Institute, I lead a research program that brings together biology, protein engineering, and AI around important biomedical questions. For students, that means the opportunity to work on challenging projects that are driven by clinical need, while being closely mentored in experimental design, critical thinking, communication, and scientific independence. I place a strong emphasis on helping trainees take real ownership of their work, build broad technical skills, and engage with collaborators across different fields and research cultures. More broadly, I serve on the RPA Institutional Biosafety Committee, Higher Degree by Research progress reviews, the SBA Drug Discovery Working Group, and a Faculty Recruitment and Retention Committee at Centenary.
