Dr Cary Di Lernia is a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Accounting, Governance and Regulation. Before commencing his academic career he worked in a variety of roles in financial markets and in legal practice. Prior to his appointment to the University of Sydney, Cary was a member of faculty at Macquarie University in the Department of Accounting and Finance.

Cary holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours, as well as a first class Honours degree in Philosophy from Macquarie University. He also holds a Master of Philosophy from the University of New South Wales, for which he completed a thesis focussing on shareholder class actions in the context of corporate non-disclosure of material information. Cary recently completed his PhD thesis analysing corporate engagement with ASX Listing Rule 3.1 and its enforcement entitled 'Faith/less? Market integrity and the enforcement of Australia's continuous disclosure provisions' at the University of Sydney.

Cary has taught and coordinated subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in diverse areas, including management accounting, critical accounting, research philosophy, corporate and commercial law and environmental law. He has built a reputation as an engaging and passionate educator who employs innovative assessment methods to foster student engagement, interaction and development. He has received teaching awards and nominations for further awards, and continues to actively shape his teaching practice through the development and introduction of new study offerings which seek to prepare students for the future of business practice.
