RESEARCH INTERESTs
Professor Camille Raynes-Greenow's research focuses on understanding how social, environmental and health system factors influence intergenerational health. Her work spans epidemiology, clinical trials and implementation science, with a particular focus on improving maternal, newborn and child health in Australia and globally.
A central theme of her research is identifying modifiable risk factors for perinatal morbidity and mortality and developing interventions that improve outcomes for women and children. Her work has advanced understanding of stillbirth prevention, maternal nutrition, health service delivery, household air pollution, and climate-related risks during pregnancy.
She leads interdisciplinary research programs examining the impacts of environmental exposures, including household air pollution, extreme heat and air quality, on pregnancy, birth outcomes and early child health. Working in partnership with researchers, clinicians, policymakers and communities across Australia, Bangladesh, India and other low- and middle-income countries, her research seeks to generate evidence that informs policy, strengthens health systems and improves health outcomes at scale.
Using epidemiological and population health approaches, Professor Raynes-Greenow investigates behavioural, social and environmental determinants of health, evaluates interventions and health service delivery, and develops evidence that can be translated into policy and practice. Her current research focuses on climate-related risks during pregnancy, reducing preventable perinatal deaths, and improving health outcomes for mothers and children in diverse settings.
Her broader interests include implementation science, research translation, research quality, capacity building and fostering the next generation of researchers through mentorship, leadership development and the promotion of equitable and inclusive research environments.
