RESEARCH INTERESTs
Professor Kobakhidze's research explores fundamental questions concerning the origin of mass, electroweak vacuum stability, anomalous symmetries, and the role of topology in quantum field theory and general relativity. He is widely recognised for his contributions to scale-invariant extensions of the Standard Model, investigations of electroweak phase transitions and their cosmological signatures, as well as pioneering approaches to spacetime structure, including noncommutative gravity and the quantum properties of black holes. More recently, his research has focused on the topological structure of the electroweak vacuum and general relativity, leading to proposals of new pseudoscalar degrees of freedom — most notably the emergent particle state known as the electroweak ηw.
His research aligns with the Faculty of Science Research Strengths — Fundamental Laws of Nature, Understanding the Universe.
