BIO

Sri AravindaKrishnan Thyagarajan is a Lecturer in the School of Computer Science at the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Engineering. He works on the theory and practice of cryptography, with a soft spot for anything involving blockchains, cryptocurrencies, and many parties trying very hard not to trust each other. His research designs cryptographic and game-theoretic tools to make distributed systems more secure, fair, and accountable.

His work has appeared at top international venues in security and cryptography, including ACM CCS, IEEE S&P, NDSS, CRYPTO, and EUROCRYPT.

Before joining Sydney, he was a postdoctoral researcher at NTT Research Inc, USA and at Carnegie Mellon University, working with Elaine Shi.

Aravind earned his Ph.D. in Applied Cryptography at Friedrich Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany in 2021 under Dominique Schröder; his dissertation was nominated for the GI Dissertationspreis. Before that, he completed an M.Sc. in Computer Science at Saarland University, Germany, and a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Trichy, India.
