RESEARCH INTERESTs
Andrew is fascinated by ways to more effectively engage students and enhance their learning. Andrew’s current interests in Physiology extend from identifying and integrating Core Physiology Concepts into curricula, developing novel Physiology teaching activities, and optimising blended Physiology teaching delivery styles using digital approaches to engage and motivate students.
Andrew also maintains his basic research interests in membrane ion channels and transporters, inhibitory synaptic mechanisms, and how glial cells contribute to neural circuit plasticity and disease. This is collaborative research, largely with colleagues at The National Institutes for Physiological Sciences in Japan where Andrew holds a Visiting Professor position. Andrew also collaborates locally on electrophysiological projects related to ion channels and transporters.
