RESEARCH INTERESTs

Ana Paula Carvalho-e-Silva’s research interests centre on improving the quality and consistency of care for people with musculoskeletal conditions through evidence-based and implementation-focused approaches. Her work focuses on:

  • Whiplash and concussion: Early management, prognostic risk stratification, and development of tailored care pathways to improve recovery and reduce the risk of persistent symptoms.
  • Musculoskeletal health: Optimising assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, with a focus on translating clinical guidelines into routine practice.
  • Allied health practice: Understanding and supporting clinician behaviour change across disciplines (e.g., physiotherapy, exercise physiology, chiropractic) to enhance guideline adherence and interprofessional care.
  • Implementation science: Designing, delivering, and evaluating implementation strategies (e.g., education, digital tools, and clinical pathways) to improve uptake of evidence-based care across healthcare systems and stakeholders, including insurers.
  • Physical activity: Promoting physical activity as a core component of recovery and long-term health outcomes, particularly within musculoskeletal and injury populations.
