BIO

 Ameneh Khatami, MD, FRACP (Paed), MBChB, BHB, is based at the Children's Hospital at Westmead where she also works as a paediatric infectious diseases specialist. Ameneh has worked and trained in clinical and academic institutes in NZ, Australia, the UK and USA. Since returning to Sydney in 2019 Ameneh has developed extensive collaborations with infectious diseases and respiratory medicine specialists throughout Australia, with a focus on optimising antimicrobial therapies in children with complicated infections, including cystic fibrosis (CF), and developing novel therapeutic options including phage therapy. Ameneh is Deputy Director/Clinical Lead for Phage Australia the and the Phage Therapy Content Expert for the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network Advanced Therapeutics Steering Committee. She has been awarded an NHMRC Investigator Grant (EL1, 2023-2028) for phage therapy research. Ameneh is a member of Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute (Sydney ID) where she holds a leadership position on the AMR and Novel Therapies thematic group.
