DrVasileios Chatzaras

Senior Lecturer in Geology

Faculty of Science

RESEARCH INTERESTs

Vasilis’ research interests include Structural Geology, Tectonics, Microanalysis, Petrophysics, and Urban Geology.  His work advances understanding of how the mechanical properties (rheology) of geological materials influence the physical and chemical evolution of the lithosphere through deformation and material transport processes.  A central focus of his research is linking deformation in deep and shallow parts of tectonic systems, with practical applications to the formation of mineral systems and the behavior of seismogenic faults.
