Dr Wilkins is currently Post Graduate Course Work Coordinator for the Dept. of Government & International Relations (GIR), and Program Director for the Master of International Relations (MIR) degree. He is Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Dalyell Academic Mentor, 2021.
Dr Wilkins has taught a range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses at a range of institutions (Birmingham, Salford, University of Hong Kong, University of Tokyo, Meiji University, Keio University, and University of San Francisco).

Dr Wilkins is available to supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR: MRes, MPhil & PhD) on topics related to: Asia-Pacific/Indo-Pacific Security or Strategy, including regional/state foreign/security policies, plus IR theory; especially alliances and multilateralism.
His current Doctoral Supervisees are:
