BIO

Dr Tess Reynolds is the Deputy Director and Thoracic Theme Lead of the Image X Institute. She also is a Cancer Institute of NSW Early Career Fellow and a 2022 Eureka Prize WInner (Outstanding Early Career Researcher). Since receiving her PhD from the University of Adelaide in 2017, she has become one of the leading young biomedical imaging physicists in the world, with a globally unique industry partnership with Siemens Healthcare and an international collaboration with Johns Hopkins University and the University of Pennsylvannia (USA). Her current research focuses on delivering the future of interventional imaging in challenging surgical scenarios.

In 2021 she received the Jack Fowler Early Career Investigator Award from the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). Since 2018, she has received three ‘Best in Physics’ awards (top 1% of ~2000 abstracts) and given 3 invited presentations at the world’s largest medical physics conference, the AAPM Annual Meeting. Dr Reynolds is also a CI on a successful 2021 NHMRC Development Grant ($1M), focusing on developing ‘Lung Ventilation imaging: a new device to protect the lungs for cancer treatment’ and a CI on a succesful 2022 NHMRC Syngergy Grant ($5M), focusing on 'Reducing the impact of radiation on the heart for cancer and cardiac disease patients'.
