BIO
Susan's current areas of research are international financial crises, business cycles, and financial fragility and how these areas are linked to the country and sovereign risk assessments and policy design. Recent policy innovations include a wealth tax design to promote sovereign debt sustainability and fund green initiatives, as well as progressive use of CBDCs for community development. Her institutional and policy designs include public credit rating (national) and multilateral credit rating agencies (both include rating schemes). The MCRA material, comprised of two reports, was commissioned by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN/CEPAL).
Susan teaches Economic Policy and the State, Economic Cycles and Instability and Country Risk Analysis. The units integrate current events, heterodox/political economic theories, history of thought, method and data analysis.

In 2021 Susan became a consultant for the United Nations, supporting ECLAC, CEPAL (Santiago, Chile), UNCTAD (Geneva, Switzerland) and DESA (New York).
